September, October, and November are all prime months to apply for jobs before year-end budget cuts and another holiday exodus. - βEnglish language use gets a boost in Germany - As always, let's give props to DW for publishing a refreshingly honest and thoughtful piece about the complexity of English becoming more of a spoken language in Germany.
- βGermany reforms citizenship law - The biggest news this week was the passing of citizenship reforms through another round of the process to make things like dual citizenship legal in Germany. It's likely to be passed some time next year, so hold on tight.
- βGermany: Refugee arrivals prompt debate over right to asylum - The banality of this <bleeping> debate is tiring, but we have to keep talking about it in order to inspire any kind of positive change. I'm still baffled as to why Germany makes it so difficult for asylum seekers to become successful here but goes so far out of their way to welcome others.
- βThai Bridge: Thai Parkβs new Friday location - I need to go and eat here before it gets too cold! I heard the new location gets quite busy but the food is as good as ever.
- βI ventured out of busy central Berlin β and it rose to the occasion - As a former resident of Lichtenberg, I always take issue with people who act like venturing outside of the ring is as unique as traveling to Mars. Outer districts are just as much a part of Berlin as the more popular (and expensive!) areas and should never be regarded in any other way.
- βGloomy Ifo fuels fears of second German recession in a year and the German economy stagnates in second quarter - Economic woes are going here for a while, whether we like it or not.
- βWhat to do in September: The best Berlin events - As always, Berlin is full of things to do but what has me most excited is the opening of Fotografiska. I've been to their Stockholm and Tallinn locations and can't wait to see what the one in Berlin will be like.
